Course Description
(Hospitals) Historically, macroeconomic health evaluations and resource allocations were governed centrally from Riyadh. Corporatization under the Health Holding Company now delegates purchasing power, operational control, and financial autonomy to the Kingdom's regional clusters, and this autonomy demands a new breed of economic literacy at the local level. This program equips local administrators and financial planners with the economic-evaluation tools needed to independently assess clinical cost-effectiveness. Participants conduct localized cost-utility and cost-effectiveness analyses for regional clinical initiatives, learning to translate evidence into defensible allocation decisions. As the 20 clusters control their own capitated budgets, the ability to assess whether a new therapeutic pathway or high-cost device delivers genuine economic value to a specific local demographic becomes an existential requirement. Through applied modeling workshops grounded in Saudi data, cluster executives and regional policy makers learn to optimize constrained resource allocation, prioritize competing initiatives, and prevent depletion of fixed regional funding pools, ensuring that every Riyal of capitated funding generates maximum population health value.
